Certified Accounting Technician (1&2) Exam Experience

To be a Certified Accounting Technician you must pass all the levels to become one. Level 1-Certified Bookkeeper, Level 2-Registered Cost Accountant, Level 3- Payroll and Taxation.

I reviewed at Topnotch CAT Reviewers located at NRC, Recto. Undergrad and recent graduates are lucky to avail the student rate as it makes a large difference between the price as for the rate for professionals. It comes at a two-day review every sunday and the 3rd sunday will be the exam. They provide the review materials. And it includes the lunch and snacks. (I wondered if Topnotch have partnered with Jollibee for it always have a chickenjoy for lunch. Haha)

And as for my CB Exam, I found it as not so difficult. As long as you study the module and the handouts that they provide. This exam will measure your skill as it directly tests your ability to make financial statements, journal entries and the likes. It is not a multiple choice sort of exam like the CPA board.

And as for the RCA-level 2 Exam. At first, I wasn't clearly sure if I will take this part because I was not an Accountancy student at all. Therefore, I have no Cost Accouting subject. I was having second thoughts if I could pass this one so I consulted the instructor and he encouraged me to take this one as long as I focus on the module that they will be given. And honestly, I was stressed out as I was studying the module. It seemed like some alien curses coming from the outer space. And fortunately I have my mom, who is a CPA. I frequently asked her questions and she was like Budha who enlightened me. Haha. Then I realized that it was not as hard as I imagined as long that there was someone who will explain to you if where that thing comes from. And surprisingly, at the exam date. It was so easy as 123. No exaggeration at all. Or so because I studied hard. I don't know but RCA was easier than the CB exam for me. And for that, I got a High Distinction rating. Could you believe that???

And lastly, the part 3 exam. I haven't taken it yet. But I have the schedule to take this one. So I am in a reviewing mode for now. This consists of payroll and taxation. It would be easy for you if you have aced the taxation subjects during your undergrad. The holy week favors me for I have a longer time to review this one. I hope that I can also pass this last one and be finally called as a Certified Accounting Technician.

As for the certification issues, it will cost you a lot. A lot. But don't think it as an expense but rather as an investment. It will be a big advantage for you as it is accredited internationally and it will lengthen your name. If you know what I mean.

So that's all. God bless us all.
